Philanthropy Asia Alliance launches new communities for health and climate action

The HHP Community aims to reduce preventable deaths and diseases across SEA.

The Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA) has launched two new communities — the Health for Human Potential (HHP) Community and the Just Energy Transition (JET) Community — for health and climate action.

The HHP Community aims to reduce preventable deaths and diseases across Southeast Asia, focusing on maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition.

The initial leads of the Health for HHP Community are the Gates Foundation, Institute of Philanthropy, Quantedge Advancement Initiative, Tanoto Foundation, and Temasek Foundation. Together, they will commit an initial funding of $129m (US$100m) towards a portfolio of projects by 2030.

Meanwhile, the Just Energy Transition (JET) Community aims to galvanise philanthropic leadership and accelerate Asia’s shift towards clean, inclusive, and people-centred energy solutions.

The JET Community seeks to close climate funding gaps as Asia receives disproportionately lower philanthropic support for its critical energy transition.

Between 2019 and 2023, just 20% of philanthropic funding reached Asia, Africa, and Latin America whilst nearly 60% flowed to the U.S. and Europe.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
