SG, APEC work on promoting sustainable and inclusive trade
Digital trade, climate change, and clean energy transition are amongst Singapore’s focus areas.
Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu joined ministers from 21 APEC economies to advocate for a sustainable and inclusive trade and investment environment at the 35th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting, held in Lima, Peru, on 14 November.
Fu discussed how APEC and the World Trade Organization (WTO) can contribute to inclusive, interconnected, and sustainable growth.
She also said that the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) agenda should be flexible to incorporate contemporary and next-generation issues such as digital trade, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
In addition, Fu also stressed the government’s role in collaborating with like-minded partners and the private sector to address food loss and waste, as well as clean energy transition.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Fu engaged with counterparts from Chile and New Zealand, to launch a Joint Working Group on Trade and the Green Economy.
