SG, India to plan roadmap for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: PM Wong
Wong plans to launch a new green lane for semiconductor goods.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that Singapore and India are planning to announce a roadmap for their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“We want to have clarity around what the CSP means; therefore, we will have a roadmap setting out all the different areas of cooperation and how we want to pursue them,” Wong said.
For example, on economic cooperation, he noted that the two will be discussing how they can bring it even closer in areas like semiconductors and industrial parks.
PM Wong plans to launch a new green lane for semiconductor goods that will facilitate the exchange of raw materials, equipment, and suppliers.
“In the areas of skills development, we are supporting one of India's National Centres of Excellence for Skilling,” he added.
The Prime Minister said that a potential joint skills training centre in Gujarat for semiconductors is being discussed.
“In the area of connectivity, be it in maritime, air or digital connectivity, there is a lot of cooperation which we are pursuing too,” Wong said.
They are also exploring new areas of cooperation in space, leveraging India's strengths on Singapore's low-orbit satellites.
