Singapore contributes US$87m to IDA
This is a 24% increase from the country’s previous contributions.
Singapore has pledged US$87m to replenish the coffers of the International Development Association (IDA) for the next three years starting July 2025.
Indranee Rajah, Second Minister for Finance, said this is an increase of 24% from their previous contribution and an increase of 10% in their burden share.
IDA is a part of the World Bank that focuses on assisting low-income countries by providing grants and low-interest loans to help them invest in their futures and improve living conditions.
In December, IDA donors agreed to expand the 21st replenishment of IDA (IDA21) to a historical high of US$100b.
IDA21 will be used to address challenges in areas like health and the environment, with 45% of commitments channelled towards mitigation and adaptation efforts.
