EMA seeks for two more LNG term importers

This is said to enhance competition and provide more options for gas buyers.

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) are looking for up to two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) term importers for Singapore, according to an announcement.

The authority has issued a request for proposal (RFP) wherein interested parties may submit proposals until 9 November. The proposals will be evaluated based on their ability to provide reliable, secure and competitive supply of LNG to Singapore.

EMA said that having more LNG term importers in the market will enhance competition and provide more options for gas buyers.

Natural gas is one of four switches in Singapore’s energy story towards a more reliable, affordable and cleaner energy future. It is expected to be the dominant fuel for Singapore in the near future as it scales up its renewable energy options.

The current LNG term importers are Pavilion Energy Singapore and Shell Eastern Trading, who were appointed in 2017 via RFP.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
