Seatrium secures contract for Tiber FPU project in Gulf of America
The series‑build approach strengthens its foothold in Gulf of America projects.
Seatrium Limited has been awarded a contract by BP Exploration and Production Inc (bp) for the engineering, procurement, construction and onshore commissioning of the Tiber Floating Production Unit (FPU) in the Gulf of America. The award follows bp’s Kaskida FPU contract in December 2024.
The Tiber FPU will produce from the Tiber and Guadalupe fields in the Keathley Canyon area, about 300 miles southwest of New Orleans, in water depths of around 4,100 feet. It is designed with a production capacity of 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Over 85% of the Tiber FPU design will replicate the Kaskida FPU, enabling Seatrium to apply established design efficiencies and lessons learned. The series‑build approach standardises procurement and project planning across both projects, while leveraging existing engineering partners and equipment suppliers.
The project adds to Seatrium’s portfolio of floating production units, which includes Shell’s Vito and Whale newbuilds in 2021 and 2023, and ongoing work on Shell’s Sparta and bp’s Kaskida FPUs.
