Sembcorp terminates plans to sell SembWaste

No reason was stated in the bourse filing.

Sembcorp has abandoned its plans to sell its waste management business SembWaste and its energy-from-waste plant.

No reason was stated in the bourse filing announcing the termination of divestment plans.

“Sembcorp will continue to review its portfolio to ensure strategic fit and maximise shareholder value,” the company stated.

On 5 June, Sembcorp announced that it is exploring the potential divestment of SembWaste, its waste management business, and the energy from the waste plant.

At the time, the Singapore-based energy company revealed that preliminary discussions with selected parties have commenced. The company appointed HSBC as its financial advisor for the possible sale.
