What are the top 10 in-demand skills in banking and finance?

The sector is expected to continue its hiring spree in years to come.

In 2022, the financial sector is expected to create a total of 9,400 new permanent roles and this figure will likely grow in the coming years as the industry continues its hiring spree.

According to HR expert, PersolKelly, those planning to be part of a banking or finance company must possess any of the 10 in-demand skills in the sector.

Amongst the things companies look for in a talent include good communication, problem-solving, research, and documentation skills.

Companies are also looking for talent who are knowledgeable in sales and business development, as well as business opportunity development.

Lastly, companies are looking for talent who can collaborate, apply teamwork in the workplace, and can navigate the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.

On the type of roles, PersolKelly said companies are hiring talent for positions relating to technology, particularly software developers and engineers.

Roles crucial to supporting the design and development of digital financial services and trade finance, blockchain technology, and the use of artificial intelligence to detect fraud and money laundering, are also hot in the sector.

In addition, new roles in sustainable finance will be created, ranging from the execution of ESG transactions to advisory services and product development," PersolKelly said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
