Consumers prefer contactless payments: survey

61% of Singaporeans shop online whenever possible.

Four in five small and micro businesses (SMBs) in Singapore expect consumers to still prefer contactless payment even if a COVID-19 vaccine is widely available, according to the Visa Back to Business Study: 2021 Outlook.

The findings showed that in the past three months, 91% of SMBs in Singapore have adjusted the way they operate their businesses compared to the global average of 82%.

This response may be how SMBs adapted to what Singaporeans want as nearly seven in 10 (69%) consumers in Singapore have used contactless payments whenever possible in the past three months, making it a priority for retailers.

Additionally, 61% of Singaporeans choose to shop online whenever possible compared to the global average of 52%.

Only 6% had say that they would revert back to old methods of payment when a vaccine is widely available.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.
The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.
If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
