MAS, ABS release distributed ledger prototype source-codes

The consortium led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) released the source-codes on distributed ledger technology (DLT) prototypes they developed for inter-bank payments.

According to a press release, the consortium also released a report describing the prototypes made on three DLT platforms, namely Corda, Hyperledger Fabric, and Quorum.

The three prototypes have been developed under Project Ubin Phase 2. Their source-codes and documentation were released for public access under Apache License Version 2.0.

MAS said academics can use the available resources to perform additional research on areas relating to DLT.

Financial institutions can reference the privacy-preservation models for internal projects. In addition, the resources enable central banks to reuse the prototypes to conduct internal trials on domestic inter-bank payments.

Phase 2 of Project Ubin was conducted together with 11 financial institutions and five technology companies.
