Over 1 in 10 S’poreans replace meals with snacks: report
This trend is due to changing dietary preferences and consumer purchases.
In Singapore, over 1 in 10 adult residents replaced their daily meals with snacks in 2024, Euromonitor International reported.
According to the report, 11% of adult Singaporeans have been replacing their meals with snacks, as convenience-oriented lifestyle changes favour snacking and consumer purchases continue to be impacted by economic uncertainty.
This represents a 3% year-on-year (YoY) increase from 8% in 2023, underscoring a significant shift in consumer behaviour and changing dietary preferences.
“Consumers have been under unprecedented stress these past few years with the cost-of-living crisis among a number of other challenges. Snacks have been leveraged for comfort and stress reduction by providing consumers entertainment at gatherings, joy as affordable gifts or presents, and pleasure as self-treats or rewards,’ Carl Quash III, head of snacks at Euromonitor International said.
