Cordlife faces new legal claims over stored cord blood issues
The company is currently seeking legal advice and will respond to the claims accordingly.
Cordlife Group Limited said in a bourse filing that it has received new legal demands from clients alleging losses linked to its cord blood storage services.
The first group comprises individuals whose stored cord blood units are deemed unlikely to be suitable for stem cell transplants. They are seeking damages for breach of contract and negligence, with claims exceeding $250k—falling under the jurisdiction of the General Division of the High Court.
Meanwhile, the second group consists of clients whose cord blood was stored in tanks categorised as "low risk" or "unaffected." They have requested, inter alia, certain warranties and undertakings from the company as well as compensation for costs.
Cordlife is currently seeking legal advice and will respond to the claims accordingly.
Whilst the financial implications remain uncertain at this stage, the company acknowledges that a full settlement of these claims could negatively impact its financial standing for the year ending 31 December 2025.
