MOH seeks public feedback on proposed health information bill

The bill will eliminate the need for repetitive medical tests for patients.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will conduct a public consultation from 11 December to 11 January 2024 to seek views on the proposed Health Information Bill (HIB).

The HIB will facilitate the safe collection and management of health information and enable better continuity and transition of care.

The HIB aims to eliminate the need for repetitive medical tests for patients and the need to repeat medical histories to various healthcare providers.

The HIB will require all licensed healthcare providers to contribute information, which includes diagnosis, medications, allergies or laboratory reports of patients, to the  National Electronic Health Record (NEHR).

Providers can only access information required for them to provide care to patients. Sensitive health information will only be accessible to selected medical practitioners.

Patients can also place access restrictions on their information in NEHR.

MOH invites the public to submit feedback regarding the HIB to go.gov.sg/hib-consult. The public can submit questions or clarifications to [email protected].
