Singapore tightens border measures for Indian travellers

Meanwhile border measures for Hong Kong, South Africa and UK travellers have been eased.

Singapore has tightened border measures for travellers coming from India, the Ministry of Health announced.

"Given the worsening situation in India, and emergence of new virus variants, we will tighten border measures for travellers from India by reducing entry approvals for non-Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents, and subjecting all travellers arriving from India to an additional 7-day Stay Home Notice (SHN) at their place of residence, following their 14-day SHN at dedicated SHN facilities," the Ministry of Health said in an April 20 statement.

This requirement will take effect on April 22.

Travellers with recent travel history from India would also have to undergo an additional 7-day SHN at their own residence following the two-week SHN at dedicated SHN facilities.

Migrant workers arriving from India for the marine, construction and process sectors would likewise be subjected to a 21 SHN.

On the other hand, the requirements for travellers from Hong Kong Eased from a mandatory 14-day SHN at dedicated SHN facilities to a 7-day SHN that can be served at their residence. They will be subjected to on-arrival COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests upon their arrival and after their SHN.

Entry restrictions would be lifted on April 22 for travellers from South Africa and the UK.

These travellers would have to undergo a 14-day SHN at a dedicated facility, and an additional 7-day SHN at their place of residence upon their arrival.
