Singapore travellers lead globally in biometric travel adoption
The adoption of generative AI for travel planning increased from 11% in 2024 to 20% in 2025.
Travelers in Singapore are amongst the most open to biometric and AI-powered travel tools, with 79% willing to use biometric gateways at airport touchpoints, well above the global average of 69%, according to Amadeus.
Beyond streamlining security, Singapore travellers see real-time updates and queue management as top benefits: 36% want biometrics to speed up queues, whilst 33% seek live traffic and arrival information.
The firm noted the appetite for automation extends beyond the airport too. Around 62% said they would prefer to check in luggage from home rather than at a physical airport counter.
The desire for a frictionless digital experience is also driving interest in all-in-one platforms. 32% of leisure travellers, and 34% of business travellers, said they would prefer a single app combining flights, hotels, and ground transport.
Business travellers also prioritise smart luggage tracking (32%), dedicated support channels (71%), and proactive disruption alerts (76%).
Adoption of generative AI for travel planning has nearly doubled in a year, with usage rising from 11% in 2024 to 20% in 2025. Amongst AI users, 92% reported benefits, including time savings (43%), easier itinerary building (37%), and discovering new destinations (35%).
Still, friction remains: 61% noted pain points, including too many options (28%), inaccurate information (26%), and the need to double-check AI suggestions (24%).
Despite enthusiasm for automation, travellers still value the human touch, especially during disruptions. Whilst 33% want fast rebooking tools and 29% prefer self-service, 30% still prefer speaking with a person, and 50% are willing to wait for human assistance even if an AI agent is instantly available.
For business travellers, reliability is non-negotiable: 76% would rebook with providers who handle disruptions well, and 91% of all travelers reported some form of travel anxiety.
