Travellers from Singapore open to fiction-inspired trips: Booking.com

More than half also want journeys based on games, memories, amongst others.

More than eight in ten or 83% of travellers from Singapore are interested in visiting a destination inspired by romantic or fantasy fictional works, according to Booking.com.

Meanwhile, 63% are open to participating in a role-play retreat based on their favourite game, book, or film, revealed Booking.com’s survey that reflected travelers’ journey preferences for 2026.

Eighty-five percent of Singapore travellers are open to booking futuristic accommodations, reflecting their curiosity in innovative stays, the booking platform’s report said.

Eight in ten travellers or 80% would recreate a memory or photo at the exact location where such were made or taken. They intend to revisit a memory with family or friends.

Another 84% are open to artificial intelligence (AI)-powered suggestions that can recommend stays inspired by locations in literature, or pinpoint real-world filming locations.

Vacations would be an opportunity to check compatibility with others, as 75% of travellers in Singapore consider taking a trip with another person with whom they have romantic, platonic, and professional connections.

Wellness travel is expected to rise, with 81% traveling to avail of skincare services.

Travellers of the Gen Z demographic are experimental as shown by the 85% who are open to custom itineraries, Booking.com said.

Seven in ten or 70% travellers in Singapore said they would consider buying design-led kitchenware or pantry items on vacation.

Booking.com surveyed more than 29,000 travelers across 33 countries and territories.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
