AI job postings surge 23% in January
January demand nearly doubled compared to figures from a year earlier.
Demand for artificial intelligence-related skills has nearly doubled in January, but firms aren't investing in proper tools, risking data leaks.
Job postings mentioning artificial intelligence surged 23% in January, nearly twice that of a year earlier, capturing demand for AI-related skills, a report from Indeed Singapore revealed.
Around two-thirds of job postings in data & analytics roles mention artificial intelligence, ahead of around half in software development, 38% in scientific research and 38% in industrial engineering.
Usage has become more broad-based over the past year, with 53% of occupational categories in January having at least 10% of job postings mentioning AI, compared to 27% a year ago.
The report reflects how much workers are now leaning on AI. A separate report by Qualtrics 68% frequently use it at work, and 57% feel hopeful or excited about AI. 41% say AI enables them to accomplish things they previously couldn’t do.
However, the report reveals a gap in organisational technology investment. Only 14% strictly use company-provided AI tools. This means most are using what is called shadow AI, or unauthorised AI tools, running the risk of data leaks.
