The government will be extending a total of $2.2b assistance to more than 140,000 employers, under the Job Support Scheme.

The assistance, which will be distributed from June 30, will benefit over 2 million employees.

Semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries will be opening a new fabrication plant in Singapore.

The US-base manufacturer will be building the new plant, worth US$4b, to cater to the global demand for chips.
