Singapore hiring up 2.1%, still 43% above pre-COVID

Singapore’s job postings rose by 2.1% after five straight months of decline, but still 43% above pre-pandemic levels according to data released by Indeed.
Artificial intelligence continues to gain traction in Singapore’s workforce. As of June, 14.8% of all job postings mentioned AI, a 10.1% year-over-year increase.
AI references now appear in one-third of tech jobs—and increasingly in non-tech sectors too. Scientific research (37%) and mechanical engineering (32%) had the highest AI penetration among non-tech roles.
June data also showed strong hiring in health and infrastructure. Job postings in sports and pharmaceutical-related roles have tripled compared to pre-pandemic levels, while openings in education, dentistry, civil engineering, and medical fields doubled.
Conversely, postings in veterinary services (-31%), security and public safety (-30%), and community and social services (-22%) declined sharply over the past three months.
Employers remain focused on long-term strategic hiring in areas aligned with national priorities and innovation. However, Pickering warned that geopolitical and economic headwinds could still cast uncertainty on the trajectory ahead.
