Singapore ranks third in APAC for life-work balance
It is placed behind New Zealand and Australia.
Singapore ranked in third place amongst Asia-Pacific countries for life-work balance in Remote’s 2025 Global Life-Work Balance Index, climbing one spot from last year.
The country’s improved ranking is attributed in part to an increase in statutory maternity leave and a strong showing in public happiness, where it ranks fourth highest amongst APAC countries.
The index, compiled by global remote work platform Remote, assesses 60 high-GDP countries based on factors such as statutory leave, healthcare, safety, work hours, and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
Each country receives a ‘life-work balance’ score out of 100.
Singapore’s consistent performance across these indicators secures its place behind only New Zealand and Australia in the APAC region.
New Zealand leads the global index for the third consecutive year, while the United States ranks near the bottom at 59th.
Amongst APAC countries, Malaysia showed the largest year-on-year improvement, rising 20 places, whilst Japan dropped two spots due to limited annual leave.
Remote’s Chief People Officer Barbara Matthews said the index highlights the importance of creating conditions where individuals can thrive both professionally and personally.
