SkillsFuture credit top-up spurs 20% rise in job-focused course enrollment

260,000 Singaporeans used their SkillsFuture Credit, a 35% YoY increase.

Singapore saw a 20% increase in enrollment for employment-focused courses in 2024 (112,000), following the SkillsFuture Credit in May, according to SkillsFuture SG (SSG).

In 2024, 260,000 Singaporeans used their SkillsFuture Credit, a 35% increase from 192,000 in 2023.

Of this, 28,000 tapped on their SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) to pursue a substantive skills reboot. About 1.05 million or 37% have used their SkillsFuture Credit since it was first introduced in 2016.

About 44% have used their SkillsFuture Credit to take up SSG-supported courses, whilst another 14% are sponsored by their employers to take these courses.

Moreover, more SSG-supported learners—from 34,000 in 2023 to 96,000 in 2024—are taking information technology-related courses, in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital marketing.

Further, the number of SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme courses increased from 179 in 2023 to 239 in 2024, to better serve mid-career workers in transitioning into in-demand sectors.

Lastly, Singaporeans heavily utilised online learning with SkillsFuture Credit, as claims for online subscriptions and courses increased tenfold from 266 in 2023 to 2,655 in 2024.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
