8 in 10 cybersecurity and IT professionals experience cyber burnout—survey

82% of Singapore respondents experienced increased of burnout in the last 12 months.

88% of cybersecurity and IT professionals in Singapore are affected by cyber burnout and fatigue, according to a survey by Sophos.

The survey revealed that burnout is felt across almost all aspects of cybersecurity operations, with 82% of Singapore respondents saying that feelings of burnout increased in the last 12 months.

23% of respondents identified that cybersecurity burnout or fatigue contributed to, or was directly responsible for, a cybersecurity breach 

20% of companies experienced slower-than-average response times to cybersecurity incidents.

Data for Singapore states that 32% felt they were not diligent enough in their performance while 36% felt heightened levels of anxiety if subject to a breach or attack.

In addition, 40% experienced feelings of cynicism, detachment, and apathy towards cybersecurity activities and their responsibilities and 38% of resignations were a result of stress and burnout.
