COTD: GenAI adoption gaps emerge in key demographic groups
On a weekly basis, the 18 to 24 age group logged the highest Gen-AI use at 79%.
There is a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) adoption gap emerging between key demographic groups in Singapore, according to a Public First report.
On a weekly basis, the 18 to 24 age group logged the highest GenAI use at 79%, followed by 25 to 34 (57%) and 35 to 44 (48%).
The 65 and above age group had the lowest at 28%.

Moreover, the report found a 10-percentage-point gap in GenAI use between men and women, along with a 15-percentage-point gap between university graduates and non-graduates.
Despite differing levels of adoption, women and nongraduates tend to identify similar barriers to AI adoption as their male or university-educated counterparts.
This implies that the largest barrier to increased AI use may be an overall lack of confidence to overcome these perceived barriers, rather than the barriers themselves, the report said.
The report suggests that these groups will therefore require targeted interventions to help them upskill.
