ESR, CloudHQ forge JV to build data centre campus in Japan

The data centre will deliver 130 MW of data centre capacity over three phases.

ESR and CloudHQ have entered into a joint venture to build, fit out, and operate ESR’s US$2b Cosmosquare Data Centre campus in Osaka, Japan.

The data centre campus will deliver 130 MW of data centre capacity over three phases, OS1, OS2, and OS3.

OS1 is ESR’s first data centre facility in Japan and will be ready for service in June. Once fully fitted out, OS1 will provide customers with 25 MW of data centre capacity.

“ESR’s deep local real estate knowledge combined with CloudHQ’s engineering expertise will make this a powerful partnership going forward. This joint venture will enable us to better serve our clients in Japan and across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring they have access to the highest quality data centre infrastructure and services,” Hossein Fateh, founder and CEO of CloudHQ said.

ESR plans to seize the growth opportunity in Japan amidst surging demand for cloud services from the manufacturing, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and government sectors.

ESR’s other data centre developments in Japan include previously announced campuses in both Keihana and Minoh City, Osaka, as well as Ariake, Tokyo.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
