Nearly half of Singapore consumers have turned to AI assistants to enhance their shopping experiences, according to Adyen’s latest Retail Report 2025.
The report found that 49% of Singapore consumers used AI tools, such as ChatGPT, for shopping in the past year, marking a significant 33% YoY increase.
Millennials and Gen Z are leading the charge, with AI usage rates at 64% and 58%, respectively.
Amongst Singapore consumers who have embraced AI for shopping, 67% said AI helps generate inspiration for outfits or meals faster than anyone else, whilst 66% said it helps them filter online noise and discover unique brands or experiences.
In addition, nearly two-thirds (64%) are open to making purchases directly through AI-powered interfaces, and 69% feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information on social media.
Millennials in Singapore are especially enthusiastic. The report found that 77% use AI to seek out unique brands, 69% are willing to shop directly through AI, and 72% say AI helps them navigate digital overload.
Singapore consumers also indicated specific innovations they hope to see from retailers, with 38% saying they want easier returns and exchanges across online and physical stores, 33% want real-time stock updates, and 31% are looking for more personalised promotions and discounts.
The report noted that AI is not only reshaping online shopping but also transforming in-store experiences. Around 44% of Singapore retailers said they have seen faster checkouts and higher customer satisfaction after implementing mobile payments and service solutions.
