Roughly four in ten firms report trust loss amidst breaches
Over 91% of Singapore IT and security leaders reported at least one cyberattack in the past year.
A surge in cyberattacks is taking a serious toll on Singaporean organisations, with 33% of companies forced to replace leadership following incidents and 38% suffering reputational damage and customer trust loss, according to a new report by Rubrik Zero Labs.
The study, The State of Data Security in 2025: A Distributed Crisis, paints a troubling picture of a threat landscape shaped by hybrid environments, rapid cloud adoption, and unchecked data sprawl.
Based on a survey of over 1,600 IT and security executives, including respondents from Singapore, the findings show how cyberattacks are now deeply impacting operational leadership and brand value.
Over 91% of Singapore IT and security leaders reported at least one cyberattack in the past year, with nearly 20% facing more than 25 attacks — the equivalent of a breach every two weeks.
Attack vectors ranged from malware (38%) and phishing (32%) to insider threats (31%) and cloud/SaaS vulnerabilities (26%).
Cloud complexity is a key contributor: 92% of organisations manage hybrid environments, and 50% run most workloads in the cloud. With 91% using between two to five SaaS platforms, attackers are finding more opportunities to exploit identity gaps and breach sensitive systems.
Ransomware remains the most damaging vector. Amongst those hit, 95% paid a ransom, and 38% had their backup and recovery systems fully compromised.
With 36% of sensitive data classified as high-risk, including PII, intellectual property, and digital credentials, Rubrik warned that a fragmented security approach is no longer sustainable.
