Singtel will receive up to $28m from Digital Industry Singapore to support the first phase of a multi-year AI transformation programme.
The funding will help Singtel strengthen its AI capabilities across talent development and hiring, governance and technology frameworks, and enterprise advisory and implementation expertise.
The initiative forms part of a strategic partnership between Singtel Group and Digital Industry Singapore to accelerate AI transformation across Singtel’s businesses.
Singtel Singapore is integrating AI across customer engagement, network operations, and enterprise services to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and resilience.
In customer care, AI will support agents and customers through real-time assistance, intelligent routing, and conversational AI.
Singtel said the first phase will focus on developing an AI-native telco roadmap, deploying agentic AI and AI/ML capabilities, building AI-native talent, establishing a trusted AI operating model, and creating reusable AI solutions and deployment playbooks.
Singtel has already trained around 13,000 employees in Singapore. It plans to train all Singapore-based employees in AI, with 3,000 to be developed as AI practitioners and 300 as AI specialists.
The initiative is also expected to create new high-value AI-related roles and support large-scale upskilling and reskilling across the organisation.
