Short circuit: Semiconductors segment suffers 29.9% decline in output

And misery loves company as all segments within the electronics cluster struggled in September 2011.

According to the report released by the government, the output of the electronics cluster was 26.5% lower in September 2011 compared to the same period last year.

The Economic Development Board said:

All segments within the cluster contracted amidst the weakening global demand for electronics, with the semiconductors segment posting the largest decline (of -29.9%). For the first nine months of 2011, electronics output declined by 6.9%, compared to the same period a year ago.
