Diamond marketplace LUXIEE bags six-figure investment in seed round

The round was led by Roadbull Logistics vice-chairman Kewee Kho.

Diamond marketplace platform LUXIEE has secured a six-figure investment in a private seed funding, led by Kewee Kho, the vice-chairman of Roadbull Logistics and independent director of Courts Asia.

Proceeds will be channeled towards marketing, branding, public relations and media placement, as well as building the business’ talent pool.

The startup prides itself as the world’s first online diamond marketplace that connects consumers directly to suppliers, offering GIA (Gemological Institute of America)-certified diamonds.

The online marketplace aims to disrupt the traditional model of selling diamonds, where each diamond goes through several layers of middle-men before reaching the consumer, thereby resulting in high mark-ups and lack of understanding of its true value.

Consumers can then either select a preferred ring setting or purchase the piece on its own to be set separately later. The firm said that its platform sees a 300% reduction in the diamond price as compared to those sold at luxury retail outlets.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
