B Capital taps former Temasek director to lead climate investment team

Former Temasek managing director Jeff Johnson has joined B Capital as General Partner, heading the US-based firm's expanding climate investment team.

Apart from Johnson, B Capital also announced the appointment of Rich Lesser as Vice Chair for Climate and Sustainability and Senior Advisor, contributing to the investment firm's strategic direction in climate and sustainability.

Before his appointment, he was Global Chair and former CEO of Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

The appointments of Johnson and Lesser follow the addition of Don Wood as a Venture Partner focused on climate in May 2023. They will be working with B Capital’s Asia team and its Climate Senior Principal, Karly Wentz.

In addition, the firm has recently invested in climate tech ventures such as Patch Technologies, which facilitates carbon credit transactions, and Acacia, which offers AI-driven decarbonization solutions for the real estate sector.
