Credit Saison VC arm launches $50m blockchain investment fund
The fund aims to fund startups building solutions in the blockchain sector.
Singapore-headquartered venture capital firm Saison Capital has announced the launch of Onigiri Capital, a $50m blockchain investment fund focusing on funding startups building real-world asset solutions across key sectors of the blockchain sector like stablecoins, payments, tokenised assets, DeFi, and financial markets infrastructure.
The launch comes as blockchain venture capital funding rebounds, reaching its highest levels this year since 2022. Real-world asset tokenisation is expected to reach $10t in market value by 2030, with major institutions such as BlackRock and Goldman Sachs in the U.S., and MUFG and Bank of China in Asia, already taking steps to integrate blockchain into their traditional finance infrastructure.
The fund is co-led by Qin En Looi of Saison Capital and Hans de Back of Onigiri Capital. It uses the network of Saison Capital’s parent, Credit Saison Group, together with other financial institutions in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, to give portfolio companies access to banks, asset managers and insurers across Asia.
The fund has already secured $35m to date.
