Deal volume in SG drops 20.8% YoY in the first three quarters of 2023

In APAC, activity fell 20.6% YoY to 10,761 deals.

Singapore’s deal activity, which includes mergers & acquisitions (M&A), private equity, and venture financing deals, fell in the first three quarters of 2023.

Data from GlobalData showed that deal volume in Singapore dropped 20.8% YoY in 1Q23-3Q23.

Other APAC markets like India, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Hong Kong also felt the brunt and experienced a setback in deal activity.

Overall, APAC saw a 20.6% YoY decline in deal activity for the 1Q23-3Q23 period, with 10,761 deals.

“Globally, deal activity remained subdued during Q1-Q2 2023 as market conditions remained challenging and uncertain, and the APAC region also followed a similar trend akin to all other regions,” Aurojyoti Bose, lead analyst at GlobalData, said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
