SG-based  data scientists earn more than their SEA peers

The base salary range for data scientists ranges from US$3,600 -US$8,400 monthly.

Data scientists in Singapore earn  more than those in Indonesia and Vietnam, according to data from the “Southeast Asia Startup Talent Trends Report 2024” report of Glints and Monk’s Hill Ventures (MHV).

The base salary range for senior data scientists in Singapore is US$6,600-US$8,400 monthly. Those in the junior and mid-level, meanwhile, have a base monthly salary ranging from US$3,600-US$4,900 and US$4,600-US$5,900, respectively.

In SEA, Glints and MHV said demand for skilled data scientists will continue to grow due to the “rapid growth of the digital economy, the increasing adoption of data-driven decision-making, and the emergence of new technologies like AI and machine learning.”

“In Singapore, we also expect demand to remain stable with government initiatives like Smart Nation,” the report said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
