76% of Singapore firms disclose nature-related issues: study
But, only 14% have aligned with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures framework.
Amongst Singaporean companies assessed, 76% disclosed nature-related issues in their sustainability reports, but only 14% aligned with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework.
Based on a study by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Kering, the relatively low adoption of TNFD highlights an opportunity for further alignment with global sustainability standards.
Although 66% of Singaporean companies identified dependencies and impacts on nature, only 39% integrated these issues into their overall risk management frameworks.
They also noted Singaporean companies are addressing nature-related risks and opportunities. Common risks include physical impacts such as extreme weather conditions, whilst opportunities focus on ecosystem protection and resource efficiency.
However, setting actionable metrics remains challenging, as only 30% of companies disclosed specific goals and targets related to nature.
In terms of leadership and governance, 50% of Singaporean companies reported board involvement in nature-related issues, with management actively overseeing these dependencies.
