Michael Syn takes the helm as SGX president

As president, Syn will oversee the group’s new Global Markets organisation.

The Singapore Exchange has appointed Michael Syn as its new president. Syn, 52, has been with SGX for more than 12 years. 

Syn joined the bourse in 2011 as its senior vice president and head of derivatives. In 2019, he became head of equities.

As president, Syn will oversee the new Global markets organisation which includes his portfolio in equities.

“His expanded responsibilities shall include Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities and Data and Connectivity businesses,” SGX said.

Syn will also oversee SGX’s wholly-owned subsidiaries, namely BidFX, MaxxTrader, Energy Market Company, and Baltic Exchange.
