Sheng Siong Supermarket to offer counter-inflation discounts in 2024

This will help alleviate the effects of rising prices following the increase in GST.

Sheng Siong Supermarket will launch a 1% counter-inflation discount storewide from 1 January to 31 March 2024.

The revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be increased from 8% to 9% next year.

Previously, Sheng Siong also provided a 1% counter-inflation discount during the first three months of 2023 when the GST rose from 7% to 8%.

The discount will be applied to all in-store purchases except infant formula, tobacco, alcohol, medicinal products, and the disposable carrier bag charge.

Meanwhile, the 4% senior citizen discount programme will be extended until the end of 2024.

Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 60 and up are entitled to this discount every Tuesday and Wednesday with a spending limit of $200 per receipt.
