IMDA and SBS sign media co-production pact

Partnership includes AI tools and new formats.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority and South Korea’s SBS signed an agreement to jointly develop media content for global audiences, extending cooperation into artificial intelligence-driven production tools and new digital business models.

The memorandum of understanding covers collaboration across the media value chain, including development, production, post-production, and cross-border distribution, with projects spanning long-form dramas, variety shows, micro-dramas, and non-fiction content.

IMDA said the partnership aligns with Singapore’s push to create more Made-with-Singapore content for international audiences, whilst leveraging SBS’s track record in global entertainment.

The two sides also plan to explore AI-driven media solutions such as content localisation for different markets, automated post-production processes, and AI-enabled content creation.

These may be tested through joint pilot projects and training programmes aimed at helping media companies and professionals in both countries adopt new technologies.

The agreement also includes pursuing opportunities in emerging media formats, online platforms, and monetisation models, alongside support for co-investment, partnerships, and market entry initiatives.

IMDA said detailed plans for joint content production and next-generation AI media solutions are due to be finalised at the Asia TV Forum & Market in Singapore in December 2026.
