Duty Free International swings to $798,000 profit in Q2 FY2026

Revenue up 14.5% to $13.1m.

Duty Free International reported a net profit of $798,000 (RM2.6m) for the second quarter ended 31 August 2025, reversing a net loss of $982,600 (RM3.2m) a year earlier.

The group recorded revenue of $13.1m (RM42.6m) in 2Q FY2026, representing an increase of 14.5% or $1.7m (RM5.4m), over the revenue of $11.4m (RM37.2m) in 2Q FY2025.

The growth was mainly driven by increased customer demand.

The company said the higher revenue helped offset the impact of the Bukit Kayu Hitam outlet closure in November 2024 following a Compulsory Land Acquisition.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
