MOM to launch dedicated online tab for reporting illegal delivery work
The Platform Workers Trilateral Group will continue addressing worker concerns.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will soon roll out a dedicated tab on its website for the public to report suspected cases of foreigners working illegally as delivery riders, Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said.
The announcement comes after recent enforcement operations that resulted in the arrest of three foreigners. The checks were carried out across the island over the past few weeks, targeting potential hotspots during peak hours flagged by the National Delivery Champions Association (NDCA).
In a Facebook post, Koh said that the efforts were made possible through strong support from local delivery riders. A total of 372 riders assisted MOM officers during the operations.
“In the middle of their own busy shifts, 372 riders took the time — about 10 minutes each — to assist our officers. For food delivery riders, every minute counts,” he said. “Their willingness to pause and help was no small sacrifice, and we are deeply grateful for their cooperation and sense of responsibility.”
Whilst enforcement checks may cause some inconvenience to riders, businesses, and consumers, MOM stressed that such actions are necessary to protect local workers.
Until the new reporting feature is launched, members of the public can continue to submit reports through MOM’s infringement reporting page.
The Platform Workers Trilateral Group will also continue engaging delivery riders to address their concerns and strengthen safeguards for their well-being.
