Seatrium faces arbitration with Maersk affiliate over wind vessel contract

Arbitration adds delivery and legal risks to Seatrium’s wind project

Seatrium Limited has received a notice of arbitration from a Maersk affiliate over a contract dispute involving a wind turbine installation vessel for the Empire Wind 1 project in the United States.

The notice, dated 21 October, follows Seatrium’s rejection of an earlier contract termination by Maersk’s unit, which the company said constituted a repudiatory breach. Seatrium said in a press release that the vessel remains on schedule for delivery by 30 January 2026.

The arbitration will be held in London under the London Maritime Arbitrators Association terms. The notice did not specify the buyer’s claims or relief sought.

Seatrium said it is seeking legal advice and will defend its position. The company added that the financial impact will depend on the arbitration’s outcome and that it will provide market guidance once there is greater clarity.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
