SEFR adds five new emission-factor categories for local businesses
The expansion comes as companies prepare for new reporting requirements under the Singapore Exchange.
The Singapore Emissions Factor Registry (SEFR) has introduced five new localised emission-factor categories to support more accurate and consistent carbon accounting amongst businesses.
These categories include cleaning, security, professional services, information and communications technology (ICT), and product carbon footprint.
The expansion comes as companies prepare for new reporting requirements under the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
By 31 December 2025, SEFR will also guide relevant international emission factors in categories such as air travel, where local data is not yet available.
The new categories were developed in collaboration with agencies including the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority, with support from industry bodies such as the Environmental Management Association of Singapore, the Singapore Accountancy Commission, the Singapore Association of Landscape Industries, and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Separately, enhancements to the NetZeroHub.SG platform, which hosts the SEFR, were also announced.
The platform’s Resource Portal now includes a National Events Calendar, a Community Forum, and an expanded Directory of Solution Providers, aimed at helping companies connect, collaborate, and identify potential partners in their sustainability efforts.
