Sembcorp to acquire Alinta Energy in $5b transaction

Completion is expected in the first half of 2026.

Sembcorp Industries will acquire 100% of Alinta Energy at an enterprise value of over $5b (A$5.9b), subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, according to a joint announcement by the companies. Completion of the transaction is expected in the first half of 2026.

Alinta Energy operates electricity and gas retail businesses in Australia and reported fleet availability of 93%. The company also has a development pipeline of 10.4GW comprising renewable and firming capacity.

Following completion, Alinta Energy will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of internal resources and external financing.

The acquisition remains subject to approvals from relevant regulatory authorities.
