SG aims to secure spot in ‘changing world’ through enhanced security, bilateral ties
The strategy will focus on defences and relations with other countries, amongst others.
The government has announced its key initiatives to ensure Singapore has a secure spot amidst a changing world.
According to authorities, three agencies laid out their key focus areas to achieve the said goal.
For the Ministry of Defence, it will focus on enhancing strategic relevance, staying ahead in military readiness, strengthening the National Service, and building whole-of-nation resilience.
Fuelling bilateral cooperation will be a vital area for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aims to strengthen relations with Singapore’s immediate neighbours, the Association of Southeast Asian NationAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations, and major and middle powers.
The ministry will also work on reinforcing Singapore’s role as a “credible and reliable partner.” Furthermore, it aims to support Singaporeans overseas and engage them at home on foreign policy.
For the Prime Minister’s Office (National Security Coordination Secretariat), it will identify and address national security risks and strengthen Singapore’s national security capabilities.
