Singtel and Lendlease break ground on $3b carbon-neutral Comcentre

It is set for completion in 2028.

Singtel and Lendlease have officially started construction on the new $3b Comcentre, set to be Singapore’s first fully carbon-neutral commercial development—from design to construction to operations.

At a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Minister for National Development Mr Chee Hong Tat and senior leaders from both companies, the partners unveiled plans for a next-generation, sustainable office complex in the Orchard Road area, where new office space is limited.

Singtel is redeveloping its current headquarters in partnership with Lendlease into a high-tech workplace featuring smart systems, AI-enabled robotics, and a dedicated 5G+ network. Singtel will be both co-developer and anchor tenant.

The project is targeting three major sustainability certifications: BCA Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy), WELL v2 Core Platinum by the International WELL Building Institute, and Zero Carbon Certification by the International Living Future Institute, making it the first in Singapore and Asia to pursue all three.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and Field Operations, the project includes two 20-storey Grade A office towers with over 110,000 sqm of space. Features include Singapore’s largest elevated urban park, 20,000 sqm of retail and lifestyle space, medical suites, a gym, an auditorium, and Singtel’s new flagship store.

Set for completion in 2028, the project aims to cut energy use by 70% and reduce on-site labour by 30% through digital construction methods.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
