Chart of the Day: Locals take the bulk of private home purchases

This amounts to 78% of homebuyers in Q1.

This chart from EDMUND TIE shows that the bulk of purchasers, or 78% of the private homebuyers in Q1 with known residential status, are Singaporeans. This is a 1 percentage point (ppt) QoQ increase from 77% in Q4 2019.

Further, permanent residents remained flat over the period, contributing 16% of the overall proportion of non-landed transactions for the same quarter.

Meanwhile, there was a slight decline of 1 ppt in foreign purchasers to 6% in Q1 from 7% in Q4 2019.
