Over 6 in 10 couples would pay top dollar for smart condos: survey

Convenience, energy efficiency are top priorities.

Smart technologies are gaining traction in Singapore, as majority of young couples say they would dole out money for additional features such as smart lighting.

According to a poll by Qingjian Realty of 100 respondents between 20 to 40 years old, over 8 in 10 (81%) respondents plan to buy a house with their partner.

Moreover, more than 7 in 10 (79%) young couples shared they will consider living in an executive condominium (EC) enabled with smart technologies.

Among those, over 6 in 10 (63%) are willing to dole out $30,000 to $40,000 to furnish their home with smart features.

The respondents further shared that among the features of a smart home, convenience, energy efficiency, and safety are the most appealing. The young couples also asserted that they would like a smart home to be equipped with smart lighting, air conditioning and security.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
