Singapore drops to 8th globally in 2026 Resilient Cities Index
However, it remained third in the Asia-Pacific, behind Tokyo and Seoul.
Singapore has been ranked 8th globally in the SAVILLS 2026 Resilient Cities Index, down from 6th place in 2024.
The decline is attributed to a moderation in net migration after a period of strong inflows, according to SAVILLS.
Despite the drop, the city remains third in the Asia-Pacific, behind Tokyo and Seoul, on the back of steady economic growth, a competitive knowledge-based economy, and continued investor interest in the real estate market.
Moreover, Singapore’s reputation as a safe haven has helped maintain its resilience ranking, said Alan Cheong, Executive Director of Research & Consultancy at SAVILLS Singapore
“With wars and unpredictable trade policies, her ranking should continue to hold up in 2026 or even improve,” Cheong added.
Meanwhile, New York, Tokyo, London, and Seoul continue to be the world’s most resilient cities, whilst San Francisco has moved up to 5th from 8th place.
