Jollibee to open second store in Singapore

Guess what? They’re going to hire more Singaporeans in spite of some internet calls for boycott.

In an exclusive interview with Singapore Business Review, a spokesperson of Jollibee Singapore said the success of the first store encourages them to embark for the opening of their second store possibly in the next quarter.

“We didn’t expect a very strong response. Our store opens at 9am and is supposed to close at 9pm but because of long queues of customers even during weekdays, we have to keep it open until 2am,” he said.

Jollibee Singapore officially opened on March 12 despite threats of boycott from Singapore nationals over hiring discrimination claims.

In a separate interview, Jollibee Vice President for Asia and Middle East Dennis Flores defended that Jollibee Singapore has a total of 62 staff, of which 79% are locals - 46 Singapore nationals and 3 permanent residents.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
