Sembcorp Industries chairman takes a bow

Ang Kong Hua will retire from his post on 20 April.

Sembcorp Industries’ Ang Kong Hua will end his stint as the company’s chairman and director effective 20 April.

In an announcement, the company said Tow Heng Tan, who is the current deputy chairman of Sembcorp, will succeed Ang as non-executive and non-independent chairman.

Tow will begin his duty as deputy chairman on 21 April. Concurrently, Tow also serves as a member of the Executive Committee (ExCo), Executive Resource & Compensation Committee (ERCC) and Nominating Committee (NC).

Apart from Ang, Tham Kui Seng will also be leaving Sembcorp Industries. Tham served the company as a non-executive and independent director for 11 years.

“The board and management of Sembcorp would like to record their gratitude and appreciation to Mr Ang and Mr Tham for their invaluable contributions over the years, which saw the development and growth of Sembcorp into a leading provider of sustainable solutions, well positioned for success in the global energy transition and sustainable development,” the company stated.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
