M1 launches mobile malware detector

It alerts the user of malware through SMS and e-mail.

M1 launched M1 Mobile Guard, network-exclusive malware detector for mobile phones.

According to a press release, this will also be the first network-based anti-malware product in Asia.

Mobile Guard is powered by Nokia's NetGuard Endpoint Security. It will check devices accessing M1's mobile network for signs of malware infection.

Once it determines that a device has been compromised, it will send an SMS and e-mail alert to the customer's mobile number and email address.

Mobile Guard will cost $2 a month and will be accessed through M1's app.

M1 chief innovation officer Alex Tan said, "M1’s Mobile Guard is the only solution in our market to offer always-on, end-to-end network-driven malware protection – helping customers perform a device health assessment, detecting and alerting customers to a threat, and helping them eliminate any threat found."

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
